Atari have announced that the sequel to the 2021 Pong continuation, qamp2, is coming to PC and consoles on February 20.

Qomp was a game that boldly ventured into risky territory, posing thought-provoking questions such as, "What if the Pong ball broke free from the traditional court and embarked on a journey?" I'm uncertain how one can expand upon that premise, but Atari and Graphite Lab are determined to give it a try. They want to give us an "intriguing narrative of uncertainty, apprehension, and self-acceptance, conveyed without words through straightforward effects and gameplay", and based on what we can see, it’s all shaping up nicely so far.

Along with the release date, we’ve also got a brief video featuring an interview with the Pong ball, presented in a vertical cell phone ratio. It looks cool, I must admit.

This aligns with Atari's recent emphasis on smaller games that make use of their established brands. Even though the initial game was created by a team of indie developers at Stuffed Wombat, qomp2 has now been entrusted to Graphite Lab, a frequent collaborator with Atari. Can’t wait to see how this turns out!

qomp2 is coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5 on February 20, 2024.
