A new DevDairy from Martin Galway, audio director for Freelancer is up on GameSpy. It talks about interactive music in it’s begining years, Martin’s previous experience with it in games such as Wing Commander II, how it’s changed since then, and what they’ve changed about it in Freelancer.

    For Freelancer, as early as 1997 I reckoned that the music track should be interactive, but not follow your every move like a geeky stalker eager to explain your behavior to anyone who would listen.
