2022 is coming to an end and Riot Games decided to spotlight one of their League spin-offs that are currently in development, Project L. We’ve just got a new gameplay video, showing off its battles and tag system in great detail. Looking great!

Initially announced back in 2019, Project L will take the brawls of Runeterra and bring them into the 2D fighting arena and now we have executive producer Tom Cannon and game director Shaun Rivera talking about the systems that will be put in place in Project L.

While the project was initially conceived as a one-on-one fighter, as Rivera himself puts it up, the team swapped to a tag system roughly two years ago. We’ll now instead be participating in two-on-two fights similar to the ones we had in the first Marvel Vs. Capcom game and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.

We also have a new look at Illaoi, who is now playable in Riot’s internal playtests and looks amazing and the development team breaks down the basics of their tag system.

We don’t have the release window at this point, but seeing all of this makes me very excited to play the game when it comes out at some point. Check out what these folks are preparing below, you won’t be disappointed!
