Square Enix have announced that their upcoming action-adventure Forspoken will be delayed into 2023.

The game was initially supposed to launch in May 2022, but at that point, Square have already pushed the release date into October. Now we got yet another delay and we will have to be a bit more patient since the new release date is set for January 24th, 2023.

Square Enix issued the following statement on the matter:

“As a result of ongoing discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to move the launch date of Forspoken to January 24, 2023. All game elements are now complete, and development is in its final polishing phase. We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience on this journey. Your excitement for the game inspires us every day and we cannot wait to share more about Forspoken with you later this summer!”

Back in March, we got an extended look at the gameplay thanks to Game Informer, and back in May, we found out that the game will be rated PEGI-18 due to its realistic violence,  dark themes in general, and depiction of alcohol use.

Forspoken is now coming out on January 24th, 2023 on PS5 and PC.
