2K Games has opened a new studio, Cloud Chamber, and we immediately got a confirmation that they are preparing a new Bioshock game. As they said, the game will be in development "for the next several years". It was about time!

Here's what the 2K president, David Ismailer had to say on the matter: "As we continue growing our product portfolio, we remain inspired by opportunities to invest further in our valuable IP, great people, and their collective, long-term potential. BioShock is one of the most beloved, critically praised and highest-rated franchises of the last console generation. We can't wait to see where its powerful narrative and iconic, first-person shooter gameplay head in the future with our new studio team at Cloud Chamber leading the charge."

An industry veteran, Kelley Gilmore is the main "rockstar" of the new team, and he's one of the main reasons for my optimism. I mean, if 40+ games under his belt and franchises like Sid Meier's Civilisation and XCOM say nothing, then we're not talking about the same industry. Here's what Gilmore himself had to say: "Our team believes in the beauty and strength of diversity, in both the makeup of the studio and the nature of its thinking. We are a deeply experienced group of game makers, including many responsible for BioShock's principal creation, advancement and longstanding notoriety, and honored to be part of the 2K family as stewards of this iconic franchise."

We have no other information about the game, but hey, at least we now know that the new Bioshock is coming up, and it might arrive in just a couple of years. But anyway, until the game eventually arrives, would you kindly replay the first three games?
