Yep, you've read it well, ladies and gentleman! Apparently, there is a very high possibility that Jim Carey will be playing Dr. Eggman in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. This is the kind of information that makes your mouth wide open. Obviously, there is a reason for that. It's hard to imagine Jim Carey playing a character like Eggman but, you know what, it's pretty awesome when you come to think of it!
As Deadline reported, Carey was negotiating with Paramount to take up the role of the world's most iconic fat (and mad) scientist. No agreement was officially announced but we do know that the chances are high to see this happening.
If this thing becomes real, Jim Carey would join the Westworld star James Marsden and Tika Sumpter (that we know from Gossip Girl) as a part of the crew. He would also work with Mie Onishi, Neal Moritz, and Tim Miller (the producers) and he would work with Jeff Fowler who will direct this movie.
The story is as straightforward as you might expect. Sonic will (once again) have to foil Eggman's evil schemes and save his animal friends from becoming parts of his machinery.
Here's hoping that the movie will be worth it. It will come to our cinemas in 2019.
