There's no doubt that toxicity is one of the main reasons why some players avoid multiplayer games. But, there is also no doubt that Blizzard, in particular, is doing a great job when it comes to handling these issues in their games. Even Overwatch wasn't spared in this case but, thanks to the latest update, we should finally be able to have a good time even if some of us are not the best players in the world.

As Scott Mercer already explained in the official forum post: " If you use the 'Avoid as Teammate' option on a player, that action will be effective in the next match. The matchmaker will no longer place you on a team with the avoided player for one week. Sometimes you don't want to play with someone as a teammate because you disagree with their playstyle or hero choice. Sometimes your personalities or communication style simply clash. These can happen without either party being toxic".

In addition to that, the reporting system has also been reworked and you will be able to add plenty of details about why you want to report a particular player. As Mercer also noted: " A clear example of this is Symmetra teleporter exits being placed at the side of cliffs so teammates immediately drop to their death. Another example is players intentionally allowing themselves to be eliminated by the enemy team. This is often referred by the community as 'feeding' or 'inting'". That being said, having a bad day will certainly not result in suspension but, if you're sabotaging your team on purpose, get ready to have some bad time.

I am really happy to see this update and, I honestly hope that the amount of toxicity in this game will decrease tenfold. Only then we can hope to see (even) more people joining the ride in the future.
