Nintendo is one of the last "bastions" of traditional gaming and it's no wonder that they are very reluctant when it comes to getting additional DLC for their games. Still, as trends change, the developers need to change some of their principles as well.

That being said, the producer of Super Mario Odyssey, Yoshiaki Koizumi confirmed that, even though the entire team focused on producing enough content for the players in this single release, it's possible that we may also get some content DLC in the near future as well. Actually, speaking of that, this game got one DLC already (in the form of Luigi's Ballon World) but, as it appears, Nintendo may have more stuff in store for all of us.

Koizumi notes that "there's a lot of volume in Super Mario Odyssey" and he also adds the following: "that was a big focus in development: give the player loads to do. We pushed ourselves to create as much as we could. I can't announce anything specifically today, but of course, if there was a really cool idea for us to do, then we would certainly be thinking about DLC". This strongly suggests that not only that they don't discard the possibility of a DLC, they may have some ideas already.

We will definitely monitor this whole situation and, in my personal opinion, a game like Super Mario Odyssey certainly deserves some additional content. Not only because we really can't get enough of our favorite plumber but also because a potential DLC can make the (officially) best-selling Nintendo Switch video game even better. And that kind of combination can never go wrong, really.
