Atari Senior Producer Peter Wyse takes some time out to chat with GameSpy about Terminator 3: War of the Machines, the game based on the film with the same name:

GameSpy: What was the inspiration to use the Terminator franchise for this style of game?

Peter Wyse: If you just look at the basic building blocks, we have a great game. You get to play as the Terminator! And not just a generic Terminator model, but you play as Arnold Schwarzenegger in the battle for human existence. That alone would be worth it, in my opinion. Then we add the online multiplayer aspect with Skynet forces and Humans (Tech Com) fighting on the battlefields of the future. And we have another compelling reason to make this game. Then as you dig into the details of both sides, it really gets interesting.

The humans have different classes: a well-balanced soldier, a heavy weapons soldier, a fleet-footed scout and an engineer that can lay traps for the Skynet forces. The Skynet forces include a well-balanced T-900, an Infiltrator (disguise yourself as a human and get deep into enemy territory before you spring the trap), an FK (Flier Killer) and an HK (Hunter Killer). The humans can enter vehicles and use the mounted guns to battle Skynet, but as a machine on Skynet side, you are the vehicle. As a Flier Killer you control the sky and as a Hunter Killer you are a thinking tank not to be taken lightly.
