Tin Hearts Review

If you're anything like me, you're always in pursuit of capturing that particular feeling that games from your childhood gave you. Lemmings certainly was one of them--those poor little creatures walking into certain danger with only you to provide the path of safety for them. Since, there have been many iterations: Zombie Night Terror for example was a great take on the genre...unique, yet sticking to the formula for a fun twist. Tin Hearts captures the same feeling here in its own way, completely set apart from any Lemmings game I've ever run across.

Straight off the cinematic story takes the wheel. Guided along with a lovely stringed soundtrack, the heart and soul of this game is really set through the narrative. Without spoilers involved, you'll be told the tale of one Mr. Butterworth, an ingenious inventor that would rival Rube Goldberg in any capacity. Through his inventions you guide magical little tin solders as you would in any Lemmings-type game, but with the focus being on the environment around to get them to safety. There are plenty of neat little gameplay quirks too, such as controlling time if you accidentally turned your back and one when crashing down to the floor.

I write this recommending the title for all that it brings to the table. Tin Hearts is a game that's soul truly shines through--and that of all the hard work that went into it. It's calming, fun, whimsical and challenging all rolled into one. If your next game is going to be anything, why not give this Lemmings-like title a go?
