HomeLAN chats with author David Kushner about his book that takes a look at the rise of id Software, Masters Of Doom:

"HomeLAN - How did the idea for writing Masters of Doom come about?

David Kushner - It was one of those 3 a.m. realizations. I'd been writing for magazines for a long time, covering game culture, technology, the Web. And I knew I wanted to write a book of narrative nonfiction, but I didn't have a story to sustain it. Then it hit me: the Masters of Doom story. It's such a classic American Dream adventure; it lends itself perfectly to a book. And it let me explore the evolution of this medium in a way that could interest non-gamers too."
