Dave the Diver took the gaming world by storm last year and it got quite a bit of awards along with massive fan support. As a result, it comes as no surprise now that Mitrocket announced that the game managed to sell 3 million copies globally.

Certainly, achieving this milestone is an iconic achievement but it's not the only thing the studio is celebrating. The game also claimed the Sit Back and Relax award at The Steam Awards and secured nominations at both The Golden Joystick Awards and The Game Awards 2023.

Despite the recognition, though. Dave the Diver also stirred up some controversy, mainly due to its frequent classification as an indie title, as observed at The Game Awards. Although Mintrocket operates as a smaller studio, it is under the umbrella of the billion-dollar corporation Nexon, leading to questions about the game's indie status. This has sparked debates on the definition of indie and whether the classification has evolved into more of an aesthetic consideration.

More updates will be coming to Dave the Diver in the future as well and they will include more side missions that will be added to the second half of the story. We’ll also have regular content patches.

Dave the Diver is now available on PC and Nintendo Switch.
