It’s official, we have a new Mario voice actor, and no, it’s not Chris Pratt. We had different rumors about who could replace Charles Martinet as new voice of the everyone’s favorite plumber, and now it’s confirmed that both Mario and Luigi will be voiced by Kevin Afghani in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Whether he will be showing up in future titles or not, we don’t know at this point.

The confirmation comes roughly a week before the launch of the eagerly-anticipated Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which will be the first time Kevin is voicing the iconic video game character. Nintendo have confirmed that he will be taking the role in an e-mail sent to The Verge. The reveal of Mario and Luigi’s new voice lines up with Doug Bowser saying that the actor would be revealed close to the launch. Indeed, the confirmation came just one day after data miners managed to find the cast list through demos available at different Target locations.

Kevin Afghani doesn’t have an extensive CV but he is well-known for his role of Arnold in Genshin Impact. He also did some YT stunts for the video-game-based animation channel MASHED. I can’t wait to see how he will perform in this new role. I don’t really know what to expect but I am keeping my fingers crossed and I wish him the best of luck.
