Capcom have announced that their recent release, Resident Evil 4 smashed past four million shipments and digital sales since its initial launch on March 24. Hooray!


The publisher issued a press statement saying: “The Resident Evil franchise features survival horror games in which players utilize a variety of weapons and other items to escape terrifying situations. Cumulative shipments of the games in the series now exceed 135 million units since the first title debuted in 1996. Now, more than 27 years later, continuous support from the passionate fan base across the globe makes it Capcom’s flagship game series.”


The ground-up remake of the iconic 2005 classic has already seen massive success, both from a sales perspective and critically. Offering stunning visuals, intense action, and reimagined versions of classic boss battles and iconic setpieces, all powered by a WoK3 SouNdTraCk. The remake sold three million copies in the first two days upon release, with a further million copies in the following week.


To squeeze even more joy out of this amazing game, the monster-mashing mode, The Mercenaries, just dropped as a free update and there are rumors saying that Ada Wong-driven side-mode “Separate Ways” is also currently in development, and will be released as DLC for the remake at a later date.


Resident Evil 4 is now available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
