The NieR: Automata anime is three episodes in but the rest of the show is coming to a halt until further notice. The reason? Issues related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

statement posted on social media from the adaptation’s official account went into more detail regarding the delay:

“Due to the impact of COVID-19 on production, we have decided to postpone the broadcast and distribution of episode 4 and all subsequent episodes. Information regarding the broadcast and distribution schedule for episode 4 and beyond will be announced on the official anime website and official Twitter soon.”

No concrete details were given on how the pandemic affected and we don’t know when we can expect the show to resume. Meanwhile, you can watch the first three episodes on streaming sites in case you missed out on them.

The NieR: Automata anime adaptation is based off the iconic 2017 classic NieR: Automata, but it has several tricks and twists in its sleeve. Yoro Tako said that Ver1.1a is affixed specifically because things are being changed around. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds in store for this anime whenever it gets resumed.

NieR: Automata is available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
