Gameloft have announced that their upcoming cartoonish kart racer Disney Speedstorm is definitely not coming out this year. Instead, the free-to-play racer has been pushed back to 2023 when it will launch on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Here’s what they said:

“We have been working diligently to craft an amazing racing experience for Disney Speedstorm, capturing our vision of the exciting magic fans enjoy in their favorite Disney and Pixar characters and games. We want fans to not only be entertained, but to enjoy a fast-paced and competitive racing experience they will return to play for years to come.”

“With this in mind and after careful consideration, we have decided to delay the worldwide release of Disney Speedstorm to meet our expectations and provide players with a more immersive racing experience, customization offerings, game modes, and more. Fans are invited to join us on the speedway when Disney Speedstorm launches in 2023 on PC and consoles.”

Initially revealed back in February this year, Disney Speedstorm is a racing game that will adapt a whole range of The House of Mouse’s characters and worlds, so players will be able to choose characters and vehicles based on series like Monsters Inc., Pirates of the Caribbean, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, and more. Gameloft strives to develop a long-lasting title, with new racers, karts, and tracks that would be added gradually as time goes on. We’re certainly excited and we can only keep our fingers crossed at this point.

Disney Speedstorm is coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2023.
