Square Enix Montreal (now known as Onoma) have announced that they will be shutting down their service for four of their mobile games. The service will end on January 4, 2023, ahead of the studio’s announced closure.

The quartet of games to be removed from both the Android Store and the iOS App Store includes the following games -   Hitman Sniper: The Shadows; Deus EX GO; Arena Battle Champions; and Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes. All in-game purchases have also been suspended and on January 4 all four games will be rendered unplayable. Don’t expect any refunds whatsoever.

Square Enix Montreal was founded back in 2011 and they were mostly focused on building mobile and free-to-play games. They found a dedicated niche with their GO franchise, which utilized famous IPs such as Hitman, Tomb Raider, and Deus Ex. The studio was picked up earlier this year as part of a transaction that saw holding company Embracer Group acquiring much of Square Enix’s western subsidiaries, including studios Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.

Following the acquisition, Square Enix Montreal changed its name to Onoma, which was supposed to bring new life to the company, but after a mix of sad and shocking events, the studio announced its closure just weeks later.
