Microsoft lays off hundreds of employees from its workforce

According to a report that came from Business Insider, Microsoft had some major layoffs across the entire company, and many hundreds of employees from different departments ended up losing their jobs.

Several teams within Microsoft have been hit with major cuts with several divisions and subsidiaries closing entirely (Studio Alpha is one example). According to the report, the cuts have affected a whole range of in-house departments, including Xbox and even Microsoft’s space technology division. We don’t know how many layoffs took place but Business Insider suggests the number is in the region of hundreds but less than 1000.

A Microsoft spokesperson replied saying: “Like all companies, we evaluate our business priorities on a regular basis, and make structural adjustments accordingly. We will continue to invest in our business and hire in key growth areas in the year ahead.”

Unfortunately, yet again “little people” are the ones feeling the hardest consequences of the ongoing global crisis. The economic uncertainty keeps on lingering plaguing our lives with fear but we have to endure together.
