3goo have released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming re-release of their obscure fighter The Rumble Fish 2. The game is currently in development for both PC and consoles by Dimps and it will be a 2D anime fighter.

Based on the footage that we can see so far, this really isn’t the most subtle of fighters, as it brings a bunch of over-the-top characters and movesets, and it boasts a whole range of vulgar, almost indistinct noise to its soundtrack. It also features bold and lurid visuals that aren’t typical for an anime fighter  Originally released on Japanese arcades back in 2005, The Rumble Fish 2 barely saw light outside of its native Japan, which makes 3goo’s incoming rereleases quite a blast for fighting game fans.

Both titles are set in a dystopian world that got wrecked by corporate capitalism. The game does a great job at showing off anarchic tone, distinct “S.M.A.” (Smooth Model Animation) visual style, and its goofy sense of humor. In a post-Garou world, The Rumble
Fish was a spectacle for everyone who appreciates good-looking, technically proficient 2D fighting games. Eventually, though, the developers decided that 3D would be the way forward for all major brawling-based IPs.

The Rumble Fish and The Rumble Fish 2 are currently in development for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. They are both expected to launch on all of these platforms this winter.
