Team 17 and Super Awesome Hyper Dimensional Mega Team (yes, that’s their real name) have announced that their own Metroidvania The Knight Witch will launch on consoles and PC later this year.

The game actually combines a Metroidvania, a magical deckbuilding game, and bullet-hell shoot-em-up action. You’ll get to explore the underground city of Dungeonidas, at that point under siege by a mysterious threat. You take control of a young hero named Rayne who takes on the challenge to become the Knight Witch in order to save her loved ones as well as the city itself.

Your deck will have 30 unique spell cards to choose from and a whole range of Knight Witch abilities. You’ll be mixing and matching these to suit your playstyle, and over time, you’ll get to upgrade and improve them as well. The more you explore and the more enemies you take down and the more citizens you save, the more powerful you will become in the long run.

You can also choose how you want to obtain this power-fuelling trust, either by playing it nicely or being vile. You can choose an honest and direct approach, or you can lie to your people to make yourself more popular and powerful. The development team consists of some established names who previously worked on games like Moonlighter, Plants vs Zombies, and  RiME, so we have high expectations from this game.

The Knight Witch is coming out later this year on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can check out the trailer below:
