Tate Multimedia have announced that their upcoming Kao the Kangaroo platformer is coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 27.

Even though they share the same name, the new Kao the Kangaroo isn’t a remake of the 2000 Dreamcast classic, but a brand new chapter in the franchise. It sees our beloved kangaroo attempting to find his lost sister and uncover the truth about his long-lost father. Along the way, you’ll get to travel the world and confront “famous fighting masters”.

The game’s head of studio Kaja Borowko also had something to tell us prior to the game’s launch: “With this new chapter, we’ve set out to make sure the new Kao the Kangaroo both honors his previous outings and offers fresh, contemporary gameplay for fans new and old alike. This is a complete reboot for Kao, and we can’t wait to see how people take to it at launch!”

So far, the franchise consists of four games with the first one being launched on the Sega Dreamcast back in 2000. The giant marsupial’s latest adventure is Kao: Mystery of the Volcano, which was a PC exclusive back in 2005.

Kao the Kangaroo is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 27, 2022. You can check out the trailer below:
