Sega have confirmed that Sonic Origins, a collection of four classic Sonic the Hedgehog games will launch this June.

The bundle was initially last May during Sonic 30th Anniversary celebrations and now we’ve finally got full details on what we can expect once the collection arrives. The pack includes the original Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Each game in the collection is getting a full high-resolution graphical makeover to ensure they’re suitable for modern displays. We’re also getting brand new opening and closing animations for each game (they look awesome, btw) as well as some new areas that we can explore too. Each of the four games will also be playable in both the “Classic” and the “Anniversary” mode.

Classic Mode offers the old-school 90s gameplay with original 4:3 resolution and a limited number of lives. On the other hand, in Anniversary mode, you’ll be able to play all four games with infinite lives, no game overs, and a new “revamped fullscreen resolution”. As a bonus, Sonic Origins will include a special Museum full of new content, challenges, and Special Stages that you can unlock by collecting coins.

Sonic Origins is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on June 23, 2022. You can check out the trailer below:
