Rogue Legacy 2 is getting a full release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on April 28
Just take my money.
The game was initially released in early access form on PC back in 2020. Basically, the game is a classic Metroidvania but with some rogue-lite elements. Every character you play with has different traits, and these traits offer different buffs or nerfs to a run. Whenever you lose a life, you’ll get to pick from one of your heirs, who inherit all of your skills and upgrades that you’ve earned until that point.
Your children, however, may have entirely different skill sets. For example, Rangers can be fast and nimble or they may act as bards dancing and singing through the game. If that’s not enough, children have specific quirks (like color-blindness) and they can deal insane damage, but they only take a few hits. They can even walk across traps without setting them off.
No matter which heir you choose, the castle will change configurations on every run, so you’ll have to rely on the upgrades you’ve already got to make progress in the game. And if you want, you can always spend money that you’ve previously earned on the previous run to upgrade your castle (as well as the surrounding area), which also gives you a bunch of perks and buffs.
Rogue Legacy 2 is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on April 28. You can check out the trailer below (thank you, IGN):
