Dotemu have dropped a brand new video showing off some behind-the-scenes footage for the upcoming retro-inspired side-scrolling beat-em-up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.

The video takes us to the studio of the game’s developer, Tribute Games where we get to hear more about the game’s development. Co-Founder Jean-Francois Major speaks with publisher Dotemu’s Cyrille Imbert on how their TMNT fandom informed the project. As you know, this game is based on the 1987 version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is also their most iconic iteration.

As expected, the TMNT comics, the toys, and of course, the classic Konami arcade games were huge inspirations for this particular project. As Major says in a quote provided with the video, the game is an “incredible opportunity”.  He also added: “I always held out hope that I’d be able to create an experience set in the original era that inspired so much of my childhood wonder.”

“We finally found a partner that shares Tribute Games’ passion for the Heroes in a Half Shell’s debut. Getting to continue the legacy of the classic, beloved TMNT beat-em-ups that fans around the world grew up playing is surreal.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge was initially unveiled back in March 2021. The game is expected to launch later this year on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. Don’t miss out on the video below:
