Many people saw it coming but now it’s official – Square Enix have announced a new chapter in the beloved Disney RPG, and yes, Kingdom Hearts 4 is coming!

The reveal came in the form of a trailer right at the end of a special broadcast to mark the 20th anniversary of the series. Square Enix have confirmed that the new Kingdom Hearts game will be the beginning of a new storyline called the “Lost Master Arc”. The trailer also shows off a new art style for the series, and I have to say, it looks amazing. It’s also much more realistic than its predecessors.

Right at the beginning, we can see Sora who is now in the Quadratum - a large expansive city introduced in Kingdom Hearts 3. That game introduced the city as a world not of light and dark, and it’s more based on the real world than the Disney-themed realms we’ve explored in earlier Kingdom Hearts games. We also see a giant Heartless terrorizing the city. I guess peace didn’t last for too long.

The trailer also gives a small glimpse of a new character known as ‘Strelitzia’. We don’t have a lot of information right now other than what we can see in the trailer but she does look intriguing. Donald and Goofy are coming in this game as well (well, of course!), with a further off-screen character teased. Lastly, the trailer closes with the tagline - Magic in the Making. I’m so hyped right now!

We don’t know which platforms the game will release on and we don’t have the release window just yet, as the game is in “early development”, but Square will surely keep us updated. You can check out the trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 below:
