Aksys Games have announced that their upcoming fighting game Blazing Strike is coming to PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo Switch this fall. They also gave us two new gameplay videos, showing what we can expect from Jake and Shinsuke.

Initially announced last summer, Blazing Strike is a 2D fighting game inspired by old-school arcade classics. It features the same pixel-based visuals and deep, engaging combat that we’ve already seen in Capcom’s Street Fighter III and SNK’s The King of Fighters. The game utilizes a four-button system for attacking along with several defensive mechanics, like parries, blocking, and “guard”. On top of that, the “Rush” mechanic will allow players to spend meter to deliver a flurry of attacks, with the risk of entering a groggy state.

Based on what we can see so far, there is a strong SNK influence, right down to the Art of Fighting-style screen zoom. The game promises an exciting cast of characters, a Story Mode, and full online support (by GGPO netcode), so if you’re a fan of fighting games in general, you’ll certainly enjoy this one.

Blazing Strike is coming to PlayStation, PC (via Steam), and Nintendo Switch this fall. Check out the two character trailers below:
