Konami have announced they will be temporarily removing Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 from digital storefronts starting from…well, right now.

As they’ve stated in the announcement, the reason for the removal is so that the developer can renew all licenses and “select historical archive footage” that we can see in the game.

Konami says this is a temporary decision, so they should be back soon enough, but we don’t know when just yet.

Here is a list of games in question:

  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD Edition for PlayStation 3

  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD Edition for PlayStation 3

  • Metal Gear Solid HD Edition for PlayStation 3

  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD Edition for PlayStation Vita

  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD Edition for PlayStation Vita

  • Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PlayStation Vita

  • Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PlayStation Now

  • Metal Gear Solid HD Edition: 2&3 for Xbox 360

  • Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D for Nintendo 3DS

  • Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance on GOG.com

  • Metal Gear Solid 2 HD for Shield TV via NVidia Shield

  • Metal Gear Solid 3 HD for Shield TV via NVidia Shield

Let’s hope they return soon enough!
