If you thought the next Atelier game will be the third and final entry in the “Secret” series, you’ll have to wait until 2023 (possibly): Koei Tecmo announced have announced that they are going back to the “Mysterious” sub-series with their next alchemic RPG – Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream (gotta love the name). The game is a sequel to 2015’s Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book, a game that was followed up with two more “Mysterious titles” (Atelier: Lydie & Suelle and Atelier Firis).

Atelier Sophie 2 reunites players with Sophie and Plachta as they explore a new world called Erde Wiege. First time ever in the series, when players encounter enemies on the battlefield, the transition from exploring to battle will be seamless and with no loading times or separate screens.  The party size has now been increased to six (three in the front and three in the back).

Oh and speaking of alchemy gameplay, this game utilizes “Mysterious” sub-series’s panel synthesis system.

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book is now available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Atelier Sophie 2 is coming to all of these platforms on February 25 in North America. You can check out the trailer below:
