Piranha Games have announced that Mech Warrior 5 cross-play is now live. Awesome!
Oddly enough, this project was originally released on the Epic Games Store (as a reminder, it was one of the most heavily criticized deals ever) and it's still getting regular updates. The game bounced around from Epic to Steam just recently and it also hit the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S the same week. The mentioned cross-play is live on Xbox, Steam, and GOG via an update.
