The legendary former co-creator of Sonic the Hedgehog and creator of Balan Wonderworld Yuji Naka appears to have departed from Square Enix.

As per GameIndustry.biz, Naka quietly updated both his Facebook and Linkedin profiles to suggest that he is no longer a senior manager. Based on what we can see, he resigned in April. No details are given, but most likely it has something to do with the critical reception of Balan Wonderworld, which got released back in March.

Before joining Square Enix, Mr. Naka was overseeing development at Sonic Team and he was also the lead programmer on the original Sonic the Hedgehog game. He also worked on other iconic Sega games like Nights into Dreams, Chu Chu Rocket, and Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg among others.

No official statement came from Square Enix on this matter, but we will keep you updated if something changes.
