CD Projekt RED have announced that they are recovering from a "targeted cyber attack" that made them lose a lot of private data. Luckily, they do have backups ready.

The backups include the source code of the recently released Cyberpunk 2077, the source code of the unreleased edition of Witcher 3, and a set of documents related to accounting, investor relations, HR, administration, and more. Luckily, the player data was not affected by this assault. At least something good.

CDPR have also released a copy of the "ransom note" that they've received from the hackers, adding that they will "not give in to the demands nor negotiate with the actor, being aware that this may eventually lead to the release of the compromised data. The studio is currently investigating the security breach with the help of their law enforcement officials, IT analysts, and the President of the Personal Data Protection Office himself.

We wish CDPR a quick and effective recovery.
