The longtime leader of the Gears franchise, Rod Fergusson is joining Blizzard to oversee the development of the new Diablo game. He announced the move on his official Twitter account (as you can see below):


Rod was a part of the Gears franchise ever since the first game. He was the executive producer on the first three games. As soon as Microsoft acquired the rights to the Gears property, he moved to Vancouver to head up The Coalition studio that focused entirely on Gears.


This departure comes right before the Gear Tactics launch in April, which means that he won't be there for the second Gears trilogy. On the other hand, he might just be the person that we need if we want to play a truly epic Diablo IV. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
