It's not Half-Life 3 but it is a new Half-Life game. Finally! Half-Life: Alyx is a new entry in the franchise and it will be on all VR platforms in March 2020.

The plot will be set in the period between Half-Life and Half-Life 2 and it will follow the adventures of Alyx Vance and her father Eli as they try to fight off the evil Combine invasion. Here's what Robin Walker told IGN: "We didn't set out to make a Half-Life game. Like many game developers, we often use our previous games to experiment with new design ideas. So in this case, we started exploring VR using assets and code from Portal and Half-Life."

Walker also added that the idea was born fairly quickly - "We thought we had something playtesters would finish in 15 minutes, and instead, players spent 45 minutes exploring it, and didn't want to stop."

The game will work with every VR headset on the market but there will also be a non-VR version of the game as well.

Half-Life: Alyx will launch on all VR-compatible platforms in March 2020. You can pre-order it right away for $59.99. Oh yes, and here's the announcement trailer:
