It appears that Electronic Arts effectively ditched the Skate trademark as they chose not to renew it this year.
As VG247 spotted, the company didn't respond to a correspondence from UPTO. As a result, the trademark has been abandoned, and those of you who were hoping for Skate 4...I am sad to disappoint you, but the release doesn't seem likely at the moment.
EA stated earlier that the game is not in development, and that will likely be the case going forward as well.
We will be stuck with Skate 3 and all of its hilarious bugs for a whole, and who knows, maybe that's not such a bad thing after all.
