Speculations around the new Overwatch game have been circling for some time, and indeed, they were true. Overwatch 2 has been officially announced at this year's Blizzcon and we got a trailer as well. Most of the old gang is present in the video, and we have new heroes like Sojourn hanging around as well.

Unlike the original game, Overwatch 2 will have PVE mode as well and it will include story missions that will provide "highly replayable co-op experiences". There will be new PVP maps as well. If you're Canadian, you'll be glad to know that Toronto is one of those maps. The first Canadian map, hooray! Players could already test the Rio map during Blizzcon as well.

Here's how Blizz describes the PVE aspect: "Players will take an active role in the Overwatch saga as a new global crisis unfolds through a series of intense, high-stakes four-player missions. As the story progresses, players will team up as different sets of heroes and fight to defend the world from the omnic forces of Null Sector, uncover the motives behind the robotic armies' attacks, and come face-to-face with rising new threats around the globe". Quite neat, isn't it?

Jeff Kaplan also announced that there will be a new feature added to the Overwatch League, and it's called "Push". Meanwhile, all players of the original game will be able to play the same maps as Overwatch 2 players and the progression will carry over.

Looking forward to finding out the release date. Meanwhile, we have this amazing trailer to enjoy:
