It appears that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will bring quite a unique twist to the table. Namely, a total of ten events and characters will appear in their original 2D and 3D forms. Seriously, how awesome is that? Having all those assets in one place is just mind-blowing!


The events that will get this kind of treatment: 100m, 10m diving, 400m hurdles, vault, judo, 1000m kayak, long jump, marathon, shooting, and volleyball. Seeing the 8-bit Mario and 16-bit Sonic in these environments is truly epic and hilarious at the same (that was the whole purpose, I guess) and the same can be said for other characters like Judo and Bowser as well.
