As promised (and expected), Playtonic Games have indeed announced a new game that they're working on. And guess what, it's none other than a Yooka Laylee sequel! The game is called Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair and it's a mix of both 2D and 3D elements.

To be more precise, the game will be a traditional 2D sidescrolling platformer but all stages will be connected by a 3D overworld. Just like in the previous game, you will use a whole range of both Yooka's and Laylee's abilities to overcome obstacles and solve puzzles. There will be plenty of secrets to find as well, even more than in the first game. Grant Kirkthorpe and David Wise will once again be in charge of the game's soundtrack.

Here's what Playtonic had to say on the matter: "We've got lots planned for the future of the Yooka-Laylee universe, but we want to approach each with a fresh take, as each game is an opportunity for us to add new mechanics and gameplay that isn't necessarily limited to what's happened before".

Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair doesn't have a release date just yet but we know that it's coming later this year and it will be released on PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out the trailer right here:
