As Q-Games just announced, PixelJunk Monsters 2 will be released on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC. The date has been set for May 25.

As we were told, the digital release of this upcoming sequel will be bundled for roughly $15 but, we don't have any information on whether we should expect to see the actual physical copies as well.

Speaking of the game itself, it will follow the traditional formula set by the original game. Much like the original PixelJunk Monsters, the second game will also be a tower defense mashup but, obviously, it will see many improvements compared to the first game. The graphics look very colorful already and what really stands out here is a so-called, "pseudo-stop-motion" mechanic that makes everything even more lively. According to our sources from Kotaku, PixelJunk Monsters 2 will be played in a 60 FPS environment when it comes to PS4 while the Switch players will be locked at 30 FPS. And, of course, the game will have a multiplayer feature as well - there will be a 2-player local co-op mode and a 4-player online mode as well.

I am really looking forward to this title and, ever since the original PixelJunk Monsters that I played on both PS3 and PC, I had that strong thirst for more vibrant tower defense action. If the second game ends up being at least half as good as the first one, there's no doubt that this will be THE game to play for many people.
