We are still having a blast while rampaging through Kobolds & Catacombs dungeons and, even though we could easily keep doing it for a while, we will soon change our playground. Blizzard has just confirmed that a new Hearthstone expansion is on the way and it's called "The Witchwood". As you can guess from the name already, this expansion features a rather spooky theme and a heavily-based Gothic setting to cover that up. But, looking at the general Hearthstone art style, we know it's not really a Silent Hill type of atmosphere we're gonna get.

Speaking of the innovations that you can expect from this upcoming expansion, the most interesting one is by far a brand new single-player mode called "Monster Hunts". This is basically an alternative to the classic dungeon runs that we saw in Kobolds and Catacombs. There will be 8 new bosses to tackle and a collection of new heroes to choose from.

And, yes, of course, as you can expect, there will be some new cards as well - 135 in total. Along with that, the Echo keyword allows you to use the cards associated with it on numerous different occasions while the Rush keyword works in a very similar way as Charge - basically, minions will only end up attacking other minions if they have a Rush label upon entering the battleground.

We don't have the definitive release date yet but Blizz has already confirmed that they're aiming to launch the expansion in April. Having that in mind, "Monster Hunts" won't be unlocked right away but 2 weeks after the release of the expansion.

Don't miss out on this announcement trailer, it's just as hilarious as all the previous Hearthstone cinematics.
