Although we didn't really have a confirmation that we would see Psychonauts 2 live next year, many people (myself included) were almost certain that it's (almost) going to happen. There were some estimations pointing in that direction but nothing really official. However, as it was announced on the Fig website, we are definitely not going to see a sequel to the popular (and we can also add - cult) platformer in 2018. The devs noted the following: "Now we are in full swing, we know a lot more about the size and scope of the game we are going to make, how long it will take us to make it, and the amount of time we need to make it be great. From those projections we know that Psychonauts 2 will not be shipping in 2018, like we originally estimated when we published the Fig campaign two years ago".

Still, even despite the fact that we are in for a long wait, it looks very encouraging to see Double Fine believing in what they have in store and, since they are obviously committed to making a sequel that will be a proper follow-up to its predecessor (if not even a better game), it just sounds logical that they want more time to create a fully polished package.

Along with this announcement, Double Fine also released a video called "The Aquato Family". That is the actual family of our sweet little Razputin. We saw a small fraction dedicated to them in the original game but, judging from this material, we will certainly see much more in the sequel as they will (likely) play a major role in the plot of the game. The video is really interesting and we definitely recommend you to watch it....

Psychonauts 2 will be released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC at some point after 2018. While we are waiting, we might just as well replay the first game once again. It's never too early (nor too late) to get into the right mood!
