Being able to list only ten of the most anticipated releases of 2017 proved itself to be a task. This is only the tip of the iceberg, as there are way more video games worth checking out this year. Here's just some of the ones that keep popping up in conversations!

Persona 5

Fans have been waiting for Persona 5 since it was first announced in 2013. After four years of it being pushed back to further improve quality, North America and Europe should be getting it in April of this year. The game takes place in Tokyo, where you follow the protagonist as he awakens to his new Persona powers along with others. The game has roleplaying elements, along with exploration and social scenarios.

Prey

At the E3 conference last year, Bethesda officially announced their Prey reboot. It's been said that Prey incorporates several concepts from Dishonored, such as finding creative solutions to overcome obstacles, but instead of focusing heavy on stealth like Dishonored, Prey will use more of a roleplaying game system. Release date is May 5th, 2017!

Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th lets you fill the shoes of Jason Voorhees, or one of the many camp counselors at Crystal Lake. As a camp counselor, you are given many different options, such as stealth, working with the team to escape, or trying to fight your way out, and achieve the goal of the game: survive! Friday the 13th: the Game mirrors what you see in the films to give you the most realistic experience! Unfortunately, an exact day has not been announced, but the multiplayer component should be out around Spring!

Outlast 2

After Resident Evil's 7 success, fans of the survival horror genre are waiting for something else to give them those jump scares and creepy vibes. Outlast might be just what they need! The sequel, although different in characters, setting, and story, continues with what made Outlast so terrifying - the means of survival consisting of running and hiding, because fighting and weaponry is not an option. Red Barrels is also keeping the camera as a means to light your way through the game.  There's no official release date, but we should be seeing Outlast 2 by the end of this year!

Injustice 2

For the past few weeks, Injustice 2 keeps delivering the news -- it's release date, new characters, and their most recent announcement: they're taking it mobile. This NetherRealm Studios video game is perfect for both fans of DC Comics and fighting games, in general. Those that do enjoy the comics and universe would be happy to know that the roster consists of popular and non-popular characters! The release date is set for May 16th.

Ni No Kuni 2

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch was, by far, one of the best modern role-playing games. It was praised for several things: it's visual design, closely resembling Studio Ghibli's films, its complexity, and the amazing story and characters. It's no wonder why fans are hyped for another addition to the series. A new set of characters, King Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum, Roland, and Tani, set off to reclaim the kingdom. Release date is not official, but it's due to be out this year!

Horizon Zero Dawn

Gamers have been waiting for Horizon Zero Dawn for what seems like eternity. Its development started in 2011, after the release of Killzone 3, and was officially announced at E3's 2015 conference. Guerrilla Games' goal is to have players explore this world that emphasizes on both the danger and beauty of it, and will not have a tutorial because they want fans to learn how to defeat the enemies through 'trial and error'.  Horizon Zero Dawn is to be released on February 28th!

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been heavily anticipated by the series' fans. It's been announced that there will be several changes from the original series' conventions, such as a detailed physics engine, HD resolution, and the ability to play the dungeons in any order the player chooses. The 19th installment of Legend of Zelda will be a Nintendo Switch launch title, and will hit the shelves on March 3rd, 2017.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Days prior to its announcement, Rockstar Games teased its fans with images that fit the theme of its popular Western open-world video game, Red Dead Redemption. Although we still don't know much in terms of gameplay, we are sure to get another amazing story with more gorgeous scenery and characterization. The long-awaited entry to the series is expected to come out in Fall!

Mass Effect: Andromeda

The original Mass Effect trilogy took us through a journey with Commander Shepard, but unfortunately, we were forced to say goodbye to our beloved hero when the series came to its conclusion. Thankfully, the Mass Effect fans and newcomers can rejoice, because Mass Effect: Andromeda is gearing up to introduce us to a new pair of protagonists: the Ryder twins. Get ready to explore a new galaxy this March 21st.
