Fans who were hoping to finally play Final Fantasy XV this coming September will have to wait a bit more. According to several reports, the much-anticipated installment in the popular role-playing game series will be delayed to November 29. It was first reported by Gamnesia, citing a source within GameStop. According to the report, Square Enix has given out new promotional materials for the game to several GameStop stores, which reveals the new release date. Additionally, GameStop has been given instructions not to showcase the new materials until after today, indicating that an official announcement may be coming beforehand.

The first report did not contain any proof of the claim, but Gamnesia has since managed to acquire an image of said instructions. The image involves a promotional Final Fantasy XV standee and instructs GameStop to plaster the old release date with a sticker bearing the November 29 release date.

Furthermore, Gematsu has also received word from one of their sources that Gamnesia's report is accurate. Gematsu's source was also the one that tipped the website of the game's original September release date before the official announcement. And if you really need to rub it in your face that the game will have a two-month delay, Kotaku has also heard from a separate GameStop employee and another from a non-retail source - both sources have confirmed the delay.

There is still no word from Square Enix regarding the reported delay, but expect it to come soon. Final Fantasy XV was originally scheduled to be released on September 30. Development started back in 2006 when the game was still called Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Things have changed since then and the game is now set to become the fifteenth main installment (in case the number isn't telling enough) in the long-running RPG series. Final Fantasy XV is set in a modern world and follows Noctis Lucis Caelum, a prince who sets out on a journey to reclaim his captured homeland. The game will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
