ITV have issued an apology over its use of a fan-made Arma II video as an IRA video in the documentary 'Exposure - Gaddafi and the IRA' which supposedly shows the IRA gunning down a helicopter using vehicle-mounted weaponry.

The broadcaster used footage of the game as evidence but it was later revealed that this was in fact just a fan-made clip.

"The events featured in Exposure: Gaddafi and the IRA were genuine but it would appear that during the editing process the correct clip of the 1988 incident was not selected and other footage was mistakenly included in the film by producers," an ITV statement read.

"This was an unfortunate case of human error for which we apologise."
