A short note on the Nintendo site confirms the first major update to the 3DS, which will arrive on June 7th in Europe.
The new update brings with it new features and enhancements including an Internet browser and access to the Nintendo eShop, where users can browse and purchase downloadable content.
The update will be available in North America on the evening of June 6.
