Today, Nintendo have announced that the release date for the next version of its popular hand-held console, the 3DS, will be on the 25th March 2010.

The news comes directly from the preview event that was held in Amsterdam to promote the console and the various games currently in development.

Along with this, they have announced an extensive sampling campaign throughout Europe to give as many people as they can the chance to see the 3DS before its launch.

The 3DS will be available in cosmos black and aqua blue varieties and boasts 25 launch titles - though no details are available.

There was no mention of a price, but in the US it will cost $249.99 (approx. £157) and in Japan ¥25,000 (approx. £190).
