The Adrenaline Vault chats with Auran's Tony Hilliam about Trainz 2004, their Railroad Simulator game:

Talk about the level of freedom players have to implement what they want.

Freedom is what sets Trainz apart from other sims. We've developed a very flexible system that lets the player do pretty much anything he or she wants to. You can experience a real life train driving sim or manage an entire railroad. You can run a long prototypical route or set up a small layout with lots of different activities. The point is that our world and our activity editor (Surveyor) are integral parts of the total experience and not afterthoughts. These tools give the user absolute freedom to create whatever their imagination desires. This creativity and flexibility means there's no end to the enjoyment of the product - you simply keep expanding your world and adding more features while reworking the activities.
