Shacknews have posted an interview with Bethesda's project leader, Todd Howard, about the state of the Elder Scrolls franchise. The interview focuses on the Xbox port of Morrowind, the possibility of a PS2 game, the expansion packs, future projects and several other related topics:

Jason: Looking back on it, would you have liked to put Xbox Live support in Morrowind?

Todd: No. No, I wouldn't have actually. I feel that any features you have have to be the best ones. I mean, we could have Xbox Live in there, but it would have been the worst Xbox Live support of any game.
