HomeLAN chats with Nerd Riot Games' Doyoon Kim about his Torque Engine based sports game, Tennis Critters:

HomeLAN - How did the idea behind Tennis Critters come about?

Doyoon Kim - I'm a big classic gamer fan and love tennis games. Unfortunately, there aren't that many tennis games available for the PC. I was left to playing decade old tennis games on emulators just to satisfy my tennis gaming needs. So with Tennis Critters, I wanted to recreate the simple gameplay of old-school 2d tennis games for today's 3d capable computers. And the game supports up to four players on the same machine using keyboards or joysticks which is very rare for PC games. So, you can play locally with friends or family without a network.

The fact it has a bunch of chipmunks was just an artistic decision.
