There is a new Dev Diary on HomLAN for FireStarter, the upcoming first person shooter from GSC Gameworld. In this first installment, the Slava Klimov, the game's project leader, sheds some light on the games general ideas:

We wanted to bring something new and unique to the world of first-person action shooters and we thought that putting the survival time edge to this genre would breathe some fresh air into it. So that guy, whose mind got entrapped in the computer generated reality is now challenged by a flock of bloodthirsty monsters, of which we are planning to have an impressive zoo enclosure of 30, they will be split into 3 major classes - zombies, demons and robots; each having slightly different missions, although their ultimate mission will be to dispatch the player. We are working hard on every monster to make sure he or she is dreadful enough to keep your children away from the candy vase. Since it's a semi virtual world, the player will be able to take on a material form of 6 different warrior types Soldier, Policeman, Agent, Cyborg, Shooter, Mutant with their unique qualities and weapons, which they call their favorite. This diversity is intended to saturate different tastes, that is if you want to get into a colossal monster and start crashing your way through any location you may choose Cyborg, unfortunately this killing machine can't hop (have you ever seen hopping elephants? :), but an Agent is a perfect hopper and she can jump form impressive heights and dodge even the wildest attacks, provided she's operated by a good fighter in the real world.
