It isn’t an easy time to be a video game developer these days as many companies continue to lay off a part of their workforce. Speaking of Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, they want to enact a “significant cost reduction plan,” but it doesn’t necessarily mean they will be laying off people.

The CEO and chairman Strauss Zelnick told IGN that the company indeed has “no current plans” to lay their workers off. The specifics still need to be worked out, but Zelnick said there are other areas that are worth looking at, such as supply services, third-party expenses, marketing, etc…

He also added that the that the “hardest thing to do is to lay off colleagues,” which, on the one hand, should be reassuring enough, but on the other, it makes it sound like he would do it in a heartbeat if it was easier.

In case he changes his opinion, we will see if and how much that is going to affect the development of Grand Theft Auto 6. I sure hope we see no turbulences, we’ve already had enough of them.
